English translation of the new Egyptian Constitution : www.sis.gov.eg/Newvr/Dustor-...
Article (220)
The Central Bank shall be responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of
monetary, credit, and banking polices, and for monitoring the performance of banks. It is solely entitled to issue banknotes.
It shall maintain the integrity of the monetary and banking system, and the stability of prices within the framework of the State general economic policy, as regulated by Law.
