Au milieu des années 1970 apparaît en France une forme d’humour dont les médias « grand public » vont se montrer friands : se moquer des accents de populations considérées comme étrangères. Aux temps de la crise économique, la France rit des populations immigrées et en particulier des « Arabes » au sujet desquels les représentations caricaturales fleurissent. La plus significative correspond au fulgurant succès du sketch de l’humoriste méconnu Pierre Péchin qui est une adaptation « populaire » de la « La cigale et la fourmi ». Rire raciste ? Rire au second degré ? L’histoire du succès entre 1975 et 1977 puis sa mise sous silence par la suite nous invite à réfléchir sur les ressorts du rire et ses temporalités médiatiques
